In this month’s profile, we get to hear from Sophie Landesmann, one of Amazon Pay’s Key Partner Manager for the UK Sales & Partnership Team. Sophie shares her hope to run a full marathon by the end of the year, the Amazon culture and her passions outside of work.

How would you describe yourself in 2-4 sentences?

A global citizen with lots of love, passion and drive for everything I do.

When did you join Amazon, what’s your position, and how would you describe your role?

I joined Amazon in August 2018, working as an Associate Partner Manager for the UK Sales & Partnership Team. My role is to build and grow relationships with key online retailers, helping them transform the way they interact with their customers through Amazon Pay.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Everyday looks different at Amazon Pay given the fast-paced environment we work in. My days consist of pitching our value proposition to new businesses, negotiating commercials and establishing effective integration project plans to ensure the launch of our product successful.

What is your favorite leadership principle and why?

My favorite leadership principle is Learn and be Curious. You never stop learning at Amazon and the culture pushes you to consistently challenge ways of working and always ask questions. At Amazon Pay, I particularly love learning more about our product and all the efforts the different teams put into offering a better buyer experience for our customers.

What is one of the reasons you enjoy working at Amazon Pay?

The people I get to work with. Everyone is so hard working, open and kind, making it a fun and great place to work.

How does Amazon support your career goals?

Amazon gives you the freedom to take full control of your career and opens doors to unlimited possibilities. Great managers support you in trying out new projects and provide you with great development opportunities.

What’s the best thing about coming to work each day? Is there a “perk” to your job that might surprise people?

The team I get to work with at Amazon Pay. We have all become a family and have a great time working together.

What are some of your passions outside of work? What are you most excited about outside of work?

I love to travel and explore different cultures and cuisines around the world with my family and friends.

What’s your super power or a something about you most people at work may not be aware of (secret talent, hobby, aspiration, etc.)?

I am running the half marathon in London this year and hope to run a full one soon!

If you had a personal motto, what would it be?

You only live once, so make sure to live your life to the fullest.
