SEPA direct debit
SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) is a project for the unification of cashless payments within the Eurozone.
Rules for SEPA direct debit
Direct debits have been replaced by SEPA direct debits. In relation to this, a combination of the IBAN and BIC numbers is needed instead of the bank sort code and account number. The existing direct debit authorization has received a new name and is now called "SEPA direct debit mandate".
By providing Amazon and its designated subsidiaries including Amazon Pay with your bank details, you authorize Amazon and its subsidiaries to withdraw payments from your bank account by direct debit. At the same time, you instruct your bank and its subsidiaries to redeem direct debits drawn on your account. As part of the conditions agreed with your bank, you can request the refund of the debited amount within eight weeks, starting from the date of debit.
If your bank declines your direct debit payment for any reasons for which you are responsible (such as insufficient funds) we might charge an additional fee of up to EUR 3, in addition to our right to collect all other amounts that you owe us. This shall not affect your right to revoke the direct debit mandate without charge where we don’t have a claim for the relevant amount against you or where you can show that the damage did not occur at all or is substantially lower than EUR 3.
